How this typing test calculates WPM

WPM means words per minute. A common typing-test convention treats five typed characters as one “word.” This test divides the number of correctly entered characters by five and adjusts that total for the elapsed time. Accuracy compares correct character positions with the characters you typed.

What should you do with your result?

Use the number as a baseline, not a verdict. If accuracy is low, slow down and work on consistent finger placement. If accuracy is strong but speed feels limited, practice the keys and combinations that interrupt your rhythm. Compare results on the same test length rather than chasing a single high score.
